Adyen N.V. is licensed by De Nederlandsche Bank as a credit institution (pan-European banking licence granted 2017), permitting cross-border acquiring, payment and banking services throughout the EEA under CRD IV passporting; registered with the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce under number 34259528 and verifiable in the DNB register. US Federal Reserve approved its branch licence (2021) and UK regulators granted a banking licence in September 2023. Complaint handling is contractually formalised for platform customers, with any expression of dissatisfaction treated as a complaint and records retained five years after termination. Terms impose unconditional merchant liability to return settled funds on chargeback, plus an unpublished chargeback fee. Restricted and prohibited business models are governed by separate eligibility criteria.
